My View - Sarah Luebbert, APR

Happy holidays to all! I hope you will join us for the MSAE Holiday Party as this is always a fun event with great food and company, and an opportunity to support the MSAE Foundation. If you haven’t signed up yet, please do so today at the MSAE website.

Speaking of the MSAE website, I hope you have recently been out to see the new website and are taking advantage of the information that is now available, the ability to connect with others, and fully utilizing your personalized member portal. If you haven’t noticed, MSAE is working to be friendlier to our beautiful trees and communicate through emails, and for this reason we are directing registrations and member renewals through the website. When renewing your membership, or registering for an event online, you are able to pay directly through the website, or you can print an invoice to submit to your accounting department. Both are very easy to do, if you have any questions, please call the MSAE office at 573-659-8898.

With our new site there is an enhanced members only section where you can upload your photo (yes, we want to see your smiling faces), an online directory, a community section, and a connections section. I have noticed that the new website has some hiccups when I use Firefox (like my picture wouldn’t load),so I encourage you to try it on a different browser. These new features are a great resource for members and I encourage you to use them. Here is a little more information about each of them:

Connections: Similar to LinkedIn you simply invite people to connect with you. Maybe it is somebody you already have a relationship with, or somebody in the same type of association market as you. This is also a great resource to connect with our associate members for more questions about their companies and properties. Tip: When you click the “Add as connection” link a pop up box will appear. You must click the “Add Connection” button on the pop up in order for your invitation to connect to actually be sent.
My Community Tab: This shows all recent activity within the MSAE online community, or you can simply click the Me & Connections to show your recent activity with your connections. Additionally, this tab also shows the Circles. Circles are message boards for members, and right now we are looking for your input on which Circles to create. I had a suggestion the other day that a message board would be great for meeting planners to seek recommendations on services throughout the state (i.e.: my photographer just cancelled on me, and I am looking for recommendations for a photographer in city X, please help). We will be building out these circles, but again, ask for your input on what type of Circles would be beneficial. Send me a message (see next paragraph) and let me know what Circles you would like created.
Inbox Tab: Another great resource of the new site is the ability to easily message people through the website. You can message people in two way, through your connections tab or through your inbox tab. You have to be connected to a person in order to message them, so please connect with me and send me your Circle ideas.

I would encourage you to get on the website and explore it. If you don’t know your log in information, simply click the member login button in the top right corner of the site, and select forgot your username or forgot your password. This will take you through some simple steps to access this information, and if you are having difficulties, contact the MSAE staff.

Don’t forget, now is the time to sign up for the holiday party and to renew your dues. Go online and take care of this now before another email comes in to distract you!
