MSAE President's Update - December 2020

 MSAE President's Update - December 2020

MSAE President, Kathy Pabst, CAE

As my year of serving you as President ends, I look back and hope to have continued the efforts of the board and left it better than before I began my term. Building on the foundation of previous Presidents, MSAE had a direction charted, but was derailed by COVID-19. No one could have predicted the impact this devastating disease had on our personal lives and our professional environments. The MSAE board made the tough decision to move the management of the organization to the board due to the financial impact of hiring an association management company. We have succeeded in this transition because we have the right team in place at the right time.

As a working board of directors, leading their efforts and implementing MSAE programs, has been a pleasure to work with such dedicated members. Their commitment to ensuring MSAE continues the quality programs and services has kept MSAE relevant to the growth of our profession in Missouri and your professional development. We have offered 7 virtual programs at no cost to you. These programs discussed the impact of COVID-19 on meetings, association operations due to COVID-19, and other revenue options for non-profit organizations. We are committed to helping you move forward and succeed. We are continuing the lobbyist directory which will be published in 2021. We will also conduct the salary survey to assess the changes in the operations of Missouri associations.

I would like to congratulate the new slate of officers and board members as they begin their tenure to serving this prestigious organization. Their leadership will continue the steadfast direction of MSAE into 2021 and beyond. It is the right team, at the right place, and at the right time. You can join this team by volunteering to serve on a committee – you are the right person to guide the future of MSAE.

Carry on and let’s make MSAE better than it is today.
